Fruity Summer Shake

Summer is on the way, which means that you’ll want a nice cold drink to make the heat bearable. Instead of diving into an overpriced juice joint and buying a sugar packed smoothie, try making a high protein shake instead.

Greek yogurt, which makes the base of this smoothie, is creamy and thick providing a good consistency. It is also packed with a whopping 22g of protein per cup.

For this smoothie you’ll need one frozen banana cut into 1 inch chunks, 1 cup frozen berries, ½ cup orange juice and 1 cup Greek yogurt (I like Fage). Note: I freeze my own fruit, by laying it out in a single layer on a cookie sheet overnight in the freezer. After, I put the fruit in a plastic bag and save it for when I need it. If you’re pressed for time, you can always buy frozen fruit in the freezer aisle.

Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend on low and work up to high. Blend your shake until it is smooth. If it gets stuck, just use a spatula to dislodge whatever is blocking the blade.

Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy a cool and refreshing drink.

Ingredients:

  • 1 c Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Frozen Banana cut into chunks
  • 1 c frozen berries
  • ½ c orange juice

Directions:

  1. Blend everything in a blender until it is smooth.
  2. Immediately pour your shake into a glass and enjoy.
